We first started working with Simon Trought end 2010 after hearing recordings he did with Treetop Flyers. He had a great set up on Hanbury street but now has moved to a custom built premises at Cable Street which is absolutely amazing. You'll not find a nicer, talented and more brilliant person to work with.. Check out thestudio and the work he's done, it all speaks for itself. We're looking forward to working with him lots more on the future.. Can't recommend this studio more highly!
We recorded The Hillfields lp and ep with Simon at Soup in 2009/2010. We were delighted with the results, and he got the best out of us and really encouraged us and helped us through the process. We enjoyed it so much we recorded our subsequent ep with him too. I trust his judgement totally, and would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone. We know a number of bands that have recorded with him and the results speak for themselves. I have recorded other ep's with him and credit him with helping me transform ideas into reality, it is an excellent atmosphere to record in and can't think of anywhere else i'd record.
I've used recording studios all over London for the past 15 years and not only is Simon the fastest, fussless and most cordial engineer I've ever worked with but there's a great, relaxed atmosphere about the place that somehow brings out your best artistry. I've recorded and mastered here at least 10 times and have no hesitation in recommending it to fellow musicians on a budget who want the job done right with the minimum of hassle.
Will
I first came to Soup Studios as a nervous teenager whose only experience recording was on a dictaphone in my bedroom. Recording with Simon was such a wonderful experience. He knows how to get the best out of you, in a way that is always encouraging and never intimidating, in an atmosphere that is both laid-back yet exciting. I'm now in my mid-twenties, and still wouldn't want to record with anyone else. Also, his set-up is top notch!
Awesome Used Soup at its new premises for the first time a couple of days ago. Loved the old place - nice and cosy - but the new place is AMAZING. Sooooo much space now - makes it a joy to use. Really flexible and really relaxed. Two engineers we worked with - Giles and Simon - were lovely as always. Super helpful and super-patient. An under-appreciated quality in sound engineers :) Can't recommend it highly enough!
Amazing We recorded our album there (Allo Darlin') and will never go anywhere else, ever. Simon was brilliant and the room was awesome. Go go go go go!
